FAQ
1 Why should cooperate with DDPROTOTYPE.
Need to deliver high-quality parts on time, whether it is prototype or mass production, this is the job of DDPROTOTYPE. Are consistent. reliable. Credible. You should be able to apply these three words to your partner, which is the core of what you should do with DDPROTOTYPE. Since 2005, DDPROTOTYPE precision machining has been recognized as a leader in rapid prototyping that delivers high-quality precision machined parts on time, as promised, and reliable, so customers don’t need to worry. We are proud to provide you with unparalleled machined parts, from rapid prototyping to mass production; and to meet every deadline. Working with DDPROTOTYPE, you will get a partnership based on trust and responsibility.
2 What are the most important considerations when choosing a precision machine shop?
Cost and quality are an age-old issue. Simply relying on low prices to choose a supplier will cause you greater loss of quality or delivery. Work with suppliers who are committed to building long-term relationships and have the technical expertise to match the right equipment to meet your needs. DDPROTOTYPE has more than 15 years of customers. These relationships continue every day and prove why DDPROTOTYPE is the best choice for your machine parts supplier.
3 What type of CAD files are accepted?
We can accept most CAD file formats (STEP, IGES, X_T ,etc.) .
4 Do you provide any design services for machined parts? If not, what does the company need to do in advance?
We do have design capabilities, but customers must approve and take responsibility for the final design. Please submit a fully defined product including all necessary machined parts, CAD models, specifications, etc., and estimated annual usage.
5 Are you ISO certified?
Yes, we are ISO 9001-2015 certified. Click here to view our certificate.
6 What is your minimum quantity
We will quote and any quantity, including one-off prototypes, and will choose the most cost-effective equipment to get the job done. We can produce anywhere from a few parts to millions; please let us know your requirements.
7 Have you run more than one shift?
Currently, our working hours are from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm in the Beijing time zone. We can plan to increase the second or third shift according to customer demand plan. We will exceed your expectations!
8 What industries do you serve?
We serve the semiconductor and computer peripherals, medical equipment, aerospace, military, electronics and automotive industries. But we are not limited to these types of processing operations. Some of our customers are the largest high-tech companies in the world. We also occasionally assist local educational institutions in engineering development projects.
9 Can I use my own material for production?
Yes, customer-supplied material is fine so long as it fits with our machine capabilities.
10 How do I know that my design will be kept secret?
We will of course sign and comply with any non-disclosure or confidentiality agreements. We also have a strict policy at the factory that we cannot take photos of customers’ products without explicit permission. Ultimately, we rely on our reputation for working with hundreds of thousands of unique designs over the years and never allow any proprietary information to be disclosed to third parties.
11 How does DDPROTOTYPE compare to prices from other suppliers?
Although direct comparisons are difficult, compared to suppliers in North America and Europe, the prices of DDPROTOTYPE plastic injection molds and CNC machined / turned parts are usually reduced by 25-45%.
Compared with Chinese suppliers, we choose not to compete on price, but to provide the highest level of quality, fast response and professional results.
12 Are lead times in working days or calendar days?
Lead times are quoted in calendar days. As per our Terms and Conditions, quoted lead times commence only after completion and confirmation of design for manufacturing review and the beginning of actual production.
13 How quickly can I get my parts?
Quality parts can be made in as little as two weeks if you provide us with complete 2D and 3D CAD models. More complex parts requiring or other special features will take longer. Request a quote to get more accurate lead times based on your project.
As for shipping, most of our shipments are via air freight, which can take a few days from China to Europe or North America.
14 What tolerances can DDPROTOTYPE achieve?
There is not a given set of tolerances that fits all processes and materials. In every case, the final tolerances on your part will depend on a number of factors, including but not limited to:
1 Part size
2 Design geometry
3 The number, type and size of features
4 Material(s)
5 Surface finish
6 Manufacturing process
Once your order is confirmed, we will review your design and provide a design for manufacturing review, pointing out any areas where we may not be able to achieve your desired tolerances. It’s helpful if you can specify which areas in your design have critical tolerances that must be met and which can be slightly modified if needed to reduce time and costs involved. Here are some general tolerance guidelines:
1 General tolerances for CNC machining in metal and plastic
2 Plastic injection molding tolerances
3 General tolerance for metal 3D printing is +/- 0.5mm
4 Shrinkage rate of +/- 0.15% is to be expected for vacuum casting
All manufacturing and technical specifications need to be clearly specified in the 2D drawings in order to be followed.
15 How does DDPROTOTYPE ensure the quality of my parts?
Once your order is confirmed, we will perform a full Design for Manufacturing (DFM) review to point out any issues that our engineers feel may affect the quality of your parts.
All incoming materials are inspected and verified with a suite of testing equipment.
Final inspection reports before shipment.
We have the ability to share inspection data with you in real-time so we can work together to address any quality issues you may have during production.
16 What type of surface finishes does DDPROTOTYPE provide?
We offer a wide variety of finishing services to achieve almost any look and feel on your parts. We offer treatments for metal, texturing for plastic injection mold tools, painting for metal and plastic, and many more. You can also learn how to specify the surface texture you want in this blog.
